Not a Diet
This is not a diet you go on and off. It's not a plan or program that you stick to for eight, ten, or twelve weeks, lose weight, and then stop doing. Noâmy eating plan is a way of forevermore changing the way you eat so that you can lose the weight you want. And once you reach that desired goal, you will be able to maintain that healthy weight by continuing to eat in the same way. This is a lifestyle, not a diet.
Again, you will be eating clean, nutrient-dense, whole foods that are high in fiber. You will be eating a healthy amount of foods from all the food groupsâcarbohydrates, proteins, and even fatsâand you will learn about âgoodâ foods versus âbadâ foods in all these categories. I am a longtime foodie and would never sacrifice taste for bland but healthy food! And that's what I can promise you: This is not a deprivation diet, nor is it bland, boring, and without texture. You are going enjoy lots of tasty, satisfying foods that make you feel satisfied as you lose weight.
In the beginning I am going to ask you to do general calorie counting and pay attention to your portion sizes. This attention to detail is necessary in the beginning, but as soon as you get into a rhythm and know how to use both my food list and your food journal, you will be able to eyeball your foods and make good food decisions without so much time and planning. Remember, information is power, and you need this information about what you are putting into your body.
